Chin reduction or genioplasty for chin in galoshes or chin liposuction : Presentation
Genioplasty is an aesthetic chin surgery procedure, which aims to modify the volume and shape of the chin, in order to recreate a harmonious face from the front and profile.
There are 2 types of chin :
- Retrogenic chin or Retrogenic : the chin is insufficiently developed. This aspect often increases the defects of the nose and gives an elongated appearance of the nose.
- Chin too protruding, ” galloping ” or Progenie: the chin is too strong, too advanced, too thick.

Before a chin
liposuction operation
During the consultation, Dr Richard Diacakis, a plastic surgeon in Paris, will confirm whether it is possible to perform a simple chin liposuction or whether bone surgery is necessary. Indeed it is essential to differentiate between a thickening of the chin fat or bone. Often both components exist and a simple liposuction of the chin is enough to give complete satisfaction.
Dr. Richard Diacakis will give you a consent, an estimate and a prescription of the necessary medication. No medication containing aspirin should be taken in the 15 days preceding the liposuction. Liposuction of the chin is always performed under local anesthesia. Admission is on the morning of the operation. The doctor will see you in the morning in your room before the operation to take preoperative photos and draw the area to be removed, simulating the result you can expect.
You will be discharged the same day. You should allow 1 day’s rest after returning home. This is a cosmetic surgery operation: it is not covered by social security.
What happens during a
chin liposuction operation ?
Chin liposuction is always performed under local anaesthesia as it is not very painful. The micro-incisions are made with a needle and are therefore invisible. The chin liposuction lasts about 30 minutes and is performed with a very fine, foamy cannula, adapted to this location. A compression bandage will be applied in the operating theatre.
After the chin

A shower is possible the next day. It is not necessary to stop your sports or professional activity except in special cases. This operation is very painless and always on an outpatient basis.
Result of a
chin liposuction
The refinement result in chin liposuction is like a classic liposuction with a visible result at 1 month and definitive between 3 and 6 months. Bruises are rare and will disappear if they occur within 10 to 15 days. Pain, although very moderate, can be relieved by simple analgesics.
The price of a chin liposuction
The price of a consultation for a chin reduction, practised by Doctor Diacakis, a plastic surgeon in Paris, is 100 euros. The price of a chin liposuction varies between 2000 and 3000 euros.
This operation is of an aesthetic nature. The reduction of the chin is neither reimbursed by social security nor by the complementary health insurance.
During the consultation you will receive an estimate including :
- The surgeon’s fees
- The application of 20% VAT.
Only the first consultation is charged. Dr Richard Diacakis does not charge a fee on all other pre- or post-operative consultations, without any notion of time.
For any aesthetic operation the patient has a minimum reflection period of 15 days.
