Who is labia majora augmentation intended for?
The labia majora are two large folds of skin that completely cover the vulva, clitoris, vagina entrance and urethra and serve to protect them. Because they are normally covered with hair, they are not easy to see. Current hair removal fashions, however, mean that we are better able to see irregularities in this area, which may cause discomfort to a woman in her intimate or sexual life. This procedure is intended for women who may have a complex related to a decrease in the volume of their labia majora, which they may experience as flat or sagging.
What is an augmentation of the labia majora?
The goal of this procedure is to inflate and amplify the volume of the vulva.
Prior to augmentation
of the labia majora
Dr. Richard Diacakis, plastic surgeon in Paris, practices augmentation of the labia majora using two methods :
– through the injection of hyaluronic acid
– through lipofilling.
Dr. Diacakis will meet with you for a preoperative consultation during which you will discuss your needs and expectations and together draw up a plan for procedure. Dr. Diacakis will evaluate the current volume of the labia majora, their tone, and whether or not they cover the labia minora.
Dr. Diacakis will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment method and the results of the procedure. He will advise you on the procedure best suited to your physiology.
You will also receive an estimate during this consultation. Because this is a cosmetic procedure, it is not covered by social security.
GOALS OF LABIA MAJORA ENHANCEMENT THROUGH HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION
Dr. Diacakis can increase the size of the labia majora through the injection of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance used in wrinkle fillers. It has been used for more than twenty years and is celebrated for its innocuousness and resorbable, biodegradable nature. Hyaluronic acid injections are a simple, quick and effective way to increase the volume of the labia majora without surgery or scarring.
Hyaluronic acid injections allow for a personalized approach to increasing the volume of the labia majora and have a trophic effect on the vulva.
Post Labia Majora Augmentation
through Hyaluronic Acid Injection
Dr. Diacakis practices these injections in his medical practice. Anaesthesia is not required, and the procedure typically lasts approximately one hour. We perform the injections using needles or micro cannulas. The product is injected into each of the labia through the anterior and posterior extremities. Your surgeon will massage the treated areas to optimize distribution of the product. Results are visible immediately, and patients are able to leave the office as soon as the procedure is completed.
Post Labia Majora Augmentation
through Hyaluronic Acid Injection
Dr. Diacakis will follow-up with patients and accompany them before, during, and after the procedure. Patients generally experience no pain or discomfort. Any bruising, swelling or redness is slight and disappears in one to three days.
Patients should refrain from sports activities including bicycling or motorcycling for one week. Patients can resume sexual activity after one week.
Anatomical results are immediate and any irregularities, caused by swelling, will gradually disappear. The labia majora will appear plumped and fleshy.
This volumizing effect can be maintained through small doses every six to eight months. We may also decide to renew the treatment after the product has completely resorbed, in twelve to eighteen months.
GOALS OF LABIA MAJORA AUGMENTATION THROUGH LIPOFILLING
Lipofilling allows us to permanently increase the volume of the labia majora. To perform this procedure, Dr. Diacakis removes fat from the patient’s own body, and reinjects it into the labia majora. The procedure tones and rejuvenates the appearance of the vulva, which regains its sensuality.
Lipofilling of the Labia Majora : Procedure
This procedure is practiced on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthetic, neurolepanalgesia, or general anaesthesia. The procedure is made up of two stages — liposuction of the donor area, followed by purification of and reinjection of the fat — and lasts between one and one and a half hours. Patients typically return home the same day.
Fat is removed from a discrete area of the body with excess fat cells using micro cannula. After this removal, fat is centrifuged to reveal intact fat cells, which are used for grafting.
Dr. Diacakis then spreads injections of these micro-particles of fat in order to amplify the contact surface between implanted cells and recipient tissue and ensure the survival of grafted cells. This ensures that results of the lipofilling technique are definitive.
Post Lipofilling of the Labia Majora
Patients commonly experience bruising and swelling after this surgery; these disappear in ten to fifteen days. The final results are visible three months after the surgery.
In some cases, grafted fat may be reduced by up to 30%. In these cases, we may need to perform a second operation in order to perfect results.
