LIPOSUCTION
OR LIPOASPIRATION OF THE THIGHS AND/OR SADDLEBAGS

Liposuction or lipoaspiration of the thighs allows the radical and definitive removal of localized fatty surfaces on the saddlebags and around the thighs. The practice of sport or diet does not eradicate this excess localised fat.

Thigh lipoaspiration can be carried out on several areas :

  • Liposuction of the “saddlebags”,
  • Liposuction of the back side of the thighs,
  • Liposuction of the padding under the buttocks,
  • Liposuction of the anterior aspect of the thighs,
  • Liposuction of the inner side of the thighs.

The riding breeches give the impression of having wide buttocks and hips creating a disproportion of the body. Badly lived in trousers, it represents under our latitudes the most frequent request especially as liposuction is the only way to eradicate it definitively.

The “padding under the buttocks” gives an unattractive impression of a fold under the buttocks, of a “double buttocks”.

The excess fat on the inner thighs gives a sensation of thighs touching each other which can to some degree even be disabling.
Liposuction of the fat deposits all around the thighs makes it possible to draw thinner and longer legs while maintaining feminine curves.

Before liposuction of the
saddlebags and/or thighs

During the consultation, Dr. Diacakis plastic surgeon in Paris will give you a consent, an estimate, a prescription of the necessary medication for before and after the operation and a preoperative check-up that the anaesthetist can complete if necessary.
Doctor Diacakis will also prescribe you a compression girdle or panty that you will have to wear for 1 month. Classically you will wear it day and night for 10 days and then only during the day. The girdle covers the silhouette from the feet to the underside of the breasts.
Any medication containing aspirin will be banned 15 days before the operation.
It is imperative to fast (no eating, drinking or smoking) 6 hours before the operation.
Admission is on the morning of the operation.
Doctor Richard Diacakis, plastic surgeon in Paris will see you in the morning in your room before the operation to take preoperative photos and draw the areas to be removed by simulating the result you can expect. You will be discharged the same evening or the day after the liposuction, depending on the amount removed and your general condition.
It is necessary to plan between 2 and 8 days of rest after the return home.

No social security coverage is possible for this aesthetic operation, so no sick leave can be prescribed. It is possible to return to work 2 to 8 days after the operation. It is therefore important to allow for this period of unavailability.

The course of the intervention of a
liposuction of the saddlebags and/or thighs

Depending on the areas to be removed in consultation, Dr. Richard Diacakis, a plastic surgeon in Paris, performs thigh liposuction in the following way :

  • The patient is positioned on the stomach under local anaesthesia or most often under general anaesthesia for the liposuction of the saddlebags, the buttock pad and the back of the thigh. The incisions are concealed in the fold of the buttocks and on the sides of the hips. It is essential not to make micro-incisions on the entire back of the thighs, as this may leave a mark darker than the skin.
  • The patient is then positioned on the back to perform liposuction on the front of the thighs (front side of the thighs) in order to remove often a too “curved” aspect of the thighs. The micro-incisions will be hidden in the groin fold and sometimes in case of large volume to be removed above the knees, taking great care not to create a mark. It is in this position that liposuction of the inner side of the thigh will be performed.
  • The fat is sucked out using foam cannulas, respecting the vessels and nerves: it is essentially the deep fat that is removed.

The panty or elastic sheath is taken directly to the operating theatre.

The duration of the operation depends on the quantity of fat to be extracted and the number of locations to be treated, it can vary from 1h to 2h30.

After a liposuction of the
saddlebags and/or thighs

A panty or support garment should be worn for 4 to 6 weeks after the liposuction.
For thigh lipoaspiration, the anaesthetist may prescribe a subcutaneous anticoagulant to prevent the risk of phlebitis.
When you leave the clinic, the same day or the next day, it is essential to return home by taxi or accompanied by someone. It is forbidden to return home by public transport.
It is common to see an oedema (swelling) appear following this surgery, which can go down, by gravity, 2 to 3 days after the operation and give swelling of the ankles and feet. This oedema will disappear completely after 2 to 3 weeks. The bruises will disappear within 10 to 20 days after the operation.
Pain, although moderate, can be relieved with simple painkillers.
The stitches are absorbable.
You will be able to resume sports activities 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.
Showering is possible the day after the liposuction but baths are contra-indicated for 3 weeks.
Sporting activities must be interrupted during the most important period of the oedema, i.e. approximately 3 to 6 weeks after the liposuction.
The pain associated with a liposuction is variable, but as a rule it is very well relieved by painkillers.
Depending on the number of areas treated and the type of work performed, the patient can return to work after 3 to 7 days.
Above all, it is advisable not to expose the entry orifices to the sun or U.V. rays for 2 months and the liposuction areas for as long as haematomas persist.

All the postoperative consultations of Dr Richard Diacakis, plastic surgeon in Paris are free of charge without any time limit.
