TREATMENT OF EXCESSIVE HAND PERSPIRATION
Presentation
What is palm hyperhidrosis ?
Palm hyperhidrosis refers to excessive sweating of the palms of the hands. The condition often begins in adolescence. It is both socially and psychologically disabling and can cause professional discomfort. Patients may find they need to wipe their hands before even picking up a pen, may find it uncomfortable to perform manual labor, or may even refrain from shaking hands when greeting others.
Where does palm hyperhidrosis come from ?
Palm hyperhidrosis is created by an imbalance in the sympathetic autonomic nervous system charged with regulating sweat gland activity.
Diagnosis
Dr. Richard Diacakis, aesthetic surgeon in Paris, receives patients for diagnostic consultations. Excessive sweating of the hands is easy to diagnose: patients experience wet hands aggravated by heat and stress and may be forced to wipe their hands continuously. Dr. Diacakis will inform you of treatment procedures and give you recommendations to follow.
How do we treat palm hyperhidrosis ?
Dr. Diacakis treats palm hyperhidrosis through the injection of botulinum toxin. Dr. Diacakis does not perform surgery to treat this condition.
