LIPOSUCTION
OR LIPOASPIRATION OF THE BELLY

Belly liposuction : Presentation

Liposuction or lipoaspiration is a surgical procedure that allows the definitive removal of localized fat deposits that neither dieting nor sport can eliminate.
In the case of the belly, it then becomes flat as long as there is no distension. Very often the lipoaspiration of the hips is associated with that of the belly.

Before a belly
liposuction operation

One or two consultations with Doctor Richard Diacakis, plastic surgeon in Paris are compulsory, during which he will give you a consent, an estimate, a prescription of the necessary medication for before and after the operation and a preoperative check-up that the anaesthetist can complete if necessary.
Dr Richard Diacakis will also prescribe an abdominal girdle which you will have to wear for 1 month. Classically you will wear it day and night for 10 days and then only during the day.

Any medication containing aspirin will be banned 15 days before the operation.
It is imperative that you fast (neither eat, drink nor smoke) 6 hours before the operation.

The social security does not cover this aesthetic operation, so no sick leave can be prescribed. It is possible to return to work 2 to 8 days after the operation. It is therefore important to allow for this period of unavailability.

The course of a
belly liposuction operation

Belly liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient basis (same day discharge).
Three types of anaesthesia are possible:

local anaesthesia combined with an anxiolytic

local anaesthesia combined with a neuroleptic,

general anaesthesia under which you are completely asleep.

The choice of anaesthesia will be discussed in consultation with the anaesthetist.

Doctor Richard Diacakis, a plastic surgeon in Paris, takes particular care to conceal micro-incisions of 3 to 4 mm only in the pubic hair and possibly in the fold of the groin. No micro-incisions will be made on the belly because they always leave a mark, even a tiny one.
The duration of the operation for a belly liposuction is from 1 hour to 1h30. It is very frequent to combine a liposuction of the hips in order to reshape the whole abdominal belt, the duration of the operation is then about 2 hours.

After a belly
liposuction operation

When you leave the hotel, it is essential that you return home by taxi or accompanied by someone. It is forbidden to return by public transport.
The anaesthetist may in some cases prescribe a subcutaneous anticoagulant to prevent the risk of phlebitis.
It is common to see an oedema (swelling) appear following this surgery, which will disappear completely after 15-20 days. It can also appear an important oedema of the intimacy (labia majora or bursa), painless, by migration of the oedema, which can persist for 4 to 5 days.
The pain, although moderate, can be relieved by simple analgesics.
The threads are absorbable.
The micro-incisions should be protected from the sun for 3 months.
You will be able to resume sports activities 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.

The Result of a
belly liposuction

The result on the belly is often visible more quickly than in other areas such as the hips. Most often, you will be able to put on a swimming costume around the 6th week with a real result, protecting the micro-incisions from the sun of course.
During the first 2 weeks there is a certain amount of oedema, then the skin appears “stuck”, “adherent”, which can temporarily give a slightly irregular appearance, which will disappear from the first month, when the skin begins to regain its suppleness and mobility. It is only after one month that we start to talk about results.
The final result of a tummy tuck will be obtained at 6 months.

The price of a belly liposuction
