PEELING

SUPERFICIAL / MEDIUM / DEEP

The peelings : Presentation

The peel consists of applying an acid solution to allow cell renewal which will rid the skin of imperfections (dilated pores, pigmentary spots, wrinkles and fine lines, acne-prone skin, …).
The peel also increases skin tone by stimulating the production of collagen by the fibroblasts.

Depending on the desired result, different types of acids are used :

  • The superficial peeling with fruit acids is ideal for dull and wrinkled skin, uneven skin tone, oily skin, acne pimples and stained skin.
  • The medium peel with trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is reserved for more pronounced fine lines, pigmentation spots, dilated pores, inflammatory acne and small acne scars. It acts more deeply by stimulating collagen synthesis. TCA can be combined with depigmenting agents to treat melasma (pregnancy mask).
  • Deep peeling uses phenol applied to the skin under local or general anaesthesia. It is the most effective treatment for deep peri-oral, peri-orbital wrinkles and localised brown spots but with consequences.

Before a peel

The type of peel is determined during the consultation with Dr. Diacakis, a cosmetic surgeon in Paris, by examining the state of the skin, its phototype, complexion, radiance and imperfections in order to define the necessary depth of action of the treatment.
Sometimes a preparation of the skin will be prescribed to you for about ten days in order to prepare the skin.

Peels are temporarily contraindicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding, a herpes outbreak and for a period of 6 months following a Roaccutane (isotretinoin) treatment, a dermabrasion or a laser treatment.

What happens
after a peel ?

Doctor Diacakis, a plastic surgeon in Paris, adopts a technique that he adapts to each case to obtain the best results. The duration of a peel is between 15 minutes and 1 hour depending on the expected results.
The patient is cleansed and a bandage is placed on the hair before starting a careful disinfection.
Then a pre-peeling solution is applied successively, followed by the peeling itself with a variable technique.
The patient then has a tingling or warming sensation that is calmed by cold compresses or a soothing cream. The product is then neutralised with water or a suitable solution.
In the case of a phenol peel, it must be carried out in a clinic and under general anaesthesia.

After the peeling operation

For superficial peels, you can resume your professional activities immediately after the session.

For medium peelings, you should plan a social eviction of 7 days during the desquamation phase.
The pain is moderate depending on the intensity of the peel.
The erythema gives way to scabs in the following days, leading to their fall a few weeks later.
The application of moisturising and healing creams and greasy substances facilitates healing.
Make-up can be applied as soon as the scar has healed. Sun protection is essential up to one month after the peel.
The doctor Diacakis, an aesthetic surgeon in Paris, will prescribe you a post-peeling treatment to avoid any pigmentary rebound.
Sun exposure must be absolutely avoided during the treatment and the following month.

The result of a peel

After a superficial peel, the complexion becomes more luminous, the skin is smoother and the pores are tighter.

After a medium peel, the complexion is even, lighter and the skin is softer and tauter. Fine lines and wrinkles are reduced. Most pigmentation spots are reduced.

The result of a strong peel is similar to a chemical facelift but the post-operative effects are longer and the social eviction is significant.
